On the 27th July 2000 we held our first gospel service in the local Kirk and about 50 adults and children attended. On 21st September 2000 the house group moved into the back hall of the Kirk because we were in need of more space to grow. Further to this, ROADS youth club was started on the 13th March 2002, aimed at primary 7 and upwards. The club has continued to grow and is now regularly attended by over 60 youths from St. Combs and surrounding areas.
Following the success of the house group, gospel services and the youth club, we decided, along with the leaders of Fraserburgh Community Church, to become a church in our own right. On the 19th of January we were brought before the leadership and the church in Fraserburgh, prayed for, commissioned and sent out with their blessing. We held our first meeting on the 26th January 2003 in the local primary school. St Combs Community Church was born following two and a half years of planting and since that time the church has been greatly blessed by God. He has provided for us a Church building at Rathen East about 2 miles from the village of St. Combs, which following renovations, was opened on the June 12th 2004.
So where are we now? Well we're not where we've been, we're not where we're going but we're somewhere in between.
We now regularly minister to 120 people every week in our church and community and have an attendance of over 100 people between both Sunday services. A coffee shop is open in the Church two days a week that ministers to the community and we visit around 60 children and Youth every week.
We are continuing to build a foundation of relationships within the church and also in the village. Our belief is that we have an opportunity to make a difference, not just dream about it, not just talk about it, but do it. We believe that the prophecies over Scotland can come to pass if people will raise a standard and be obedient to what God has called us to do. We are becoming a community that affects the community showing God's love by reaching out, overcoming, advancing, discipling, and sending.
